Hey everyone! This is my first post to this forum.

I heard about Symphony X thorugh my friends and after hearing Sea of lies I decided that I wanna learn that awesome Michael Romeo kind of tapping. Problem is that I don't know where to start. I'm not new to guitar.
I can do basic Eddie Van Halen/Randy Rhoads style tapping licks but Romeo's tapping licks are way too hard.

Where should I start? Any suggestions?

That's pretty advanced stuff you're talking about. What way to go about it... hmm? With all techniques I think it's best to break the passages down and learn them in sections real slow. Make sure all is running smooth dude before you try going into warp mode. A metronome is pretty much essential. Watch your muting as well. Things can get noisy/messy at that speed.

When tapping in conjunction with hammering down four notes or more with slides its important to get the tempo right otherwise it gets messy really quickly.

Something played accurately at the correct tempo will actually sound faster than a sloppy mess of fast notes, I think this applies to most things really not just tapping.

Ibanez Daemon Thank you for the book man.I am working on my own licks for my band in Michael Romeo Style.He is one of my huge influences on guitar and a guitar god :D :D.Those licks i tried in january(mine licks) and soon i am preparing to record them with good equipment.First lick of Romeo was the solo from Sea of Lies.It took me a lot of time to make it sound good.
