Title: some help in finding music plz ;)

Pferdinand - August 18, 2009 01:19 PM (GMT)
Hey folks,

im new around here and just stumbled recently over this kind of music.

while im not that young, most of the stuff im diggin out today went totally past me at the time i was young.
truth be told, i only recognized this music as BGM/themes in various 80-90 cartoons^^
those where the days..

well on to my issue.

im curently looking for instrumental guitar music in the style of Tony Macalpine(so awesome!).

by instrumental i mean just guitar/bass, mebbe keys but NO DRUMS!

are there any artists around who do something like this?

any help is appreciated

regards

No drums? Good luck with that one, most musicians will want to keep time. Tony MacAlpine, for example, has a drummer.

Anyway, here's a list of the top neoclassical metal guitarists, in our opinion. It'll give you somewhere to start, since a bunch of them play something at least similar to the instrumental neoclassical metal that MacAlpine did.

Yeah as Lektro says you'll be hard pushed to find artists in the Neoclassical genre that don't have drums. You need the real mainstay of the drummer. As a guitarist or bassist it's the drummer that you are listening to as well when playing in a band.

thx guys ill look into the thread.

while i know the drummer is important, i thought some peepz may play with a metronom for the pace.

thx!

You won't find a neo-classical guitarist that plays only with a metronome unless you look at some of their vids when they introduce the metronome.

Usually the drummer is the metronome. If you listen to like Metallica, on one, lars does a triplet and kirk and jeff does a triplet. So they both on the same tempo.

Good luck finding one who uses a metronome.

Whose Jeff? Did they replace James or Rob?

Lolz. I meant James. I don't know where I got Jeff.

more progressive than neoclassical probably, but The ****ing Champs have more than a couple tunes without a drummer present. Listen to Chorale Mother****** on my profile page myspace.com/electricjakev

side note: is profanity OK here within reason?
