Title: Buying safely online??

IbanezDaemon - July 7, 2009 05:47 PM (GMT)
Hi guys, need some advice here.

I came across a nice RG550 online yesterday that I'm interested in. However the seller lives too far away from me for collection of the guitar to be an option. I sugggested he put it on ebay and post it to me. He refused saying he would lose too much in ebay/paypal fees.

He says if I make him a direct payment by Paypal I am covered anyway. Can anyone confirm this? Or does anybody know what payment method I can make so that I can but the guitar and be covered in the event of never seeing it. I've spoken to the seller on the phone and he seems genuine enough but that is of little reassurance to me. :(

Don't see why you wouldn't be... Paypal itself is actually owned by Ebay.

Yeah but he won't put the guitar on ebay. That way I would be covered. I just checked with paypal and it seems if I didn't get the guitar I could file a claim for the money but would only get it refunded to me if the funds were still in the sellers account but there would be no guarantees that would be the case. Looks like I'm gonna have to pull out of the deal. :(

Oic. I have no idea then.

Managed to talk the seller around to placing the RG550 on ebay. I just bought it this evening. Paid a bit over the odds for it but the seller sent me a pile of other pics and the guitar is virtually mint. Should get it by Tuesday. :)

Thanks Steve. I appreciate it mate. The guitar also has a Tremol-No System which should be interesting. Check out the link below:

Nice. That's very cool.

Got the new RG550 today. Will upload pics soon but I'm having a serious problem with my computer at the moment. Seems to be a problem with the server. This is the only site I can connect to so far. May have to contact the ISP provider.

Things like that usually sort themselves out after (At the very most) a day.

Still, give them a call to make sure it is the server and not you.

Phoned my Internet service provider and was put through to a call centre in India. Turned out to be of no help. My computer seems to be Banjaxed! Can't connect to most websites and the one's I can, like here, it's taking about 40 seconds to switch between pages. The whole thing is running super slow. :(

That really sucks. Hope you get that fixed soon.

Thanks man. I'm pretty sure the computer is affected by spyware. I'm gonna get a mate to burn me a disc with adaware and spybot on it so hopefully that'll do the trick. :)

i reccomend getting Spybot Search and Destroy and the trial version of AVG. The trial for AVG lasts forever, you just don't get the full features, and because of this it doesn't screw up Spybot or vice versa so you get two great security systems working together. Both free.

Thanks Steve. I'll give those a go. I'll see my mate early this evening. I can't even access most websites so he'll have to do me a disc that I can install. Meanwhile I have 2 new guitars to keep me occupied until I get the PC sorted. :)
