Ive been listening to a great cd by Rafa El Tachuela called Flamenco Romantico---Romantic flamenco and it is quite good so i wanted to ask if anyone is into flamenco music.
Yes, I like it very much. I had a teacher, an old man who knew no theory; he helped me lots with right hand techniques, but you need to practise a lot to play it fluently.
I am spanish, but there's lot of people in my country who are not very intrested... Sometimes is well-mixed with other styles, sometimes they make some crappy pop-flamenco songs (with a very light flamenco).
Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, Paco de Lucía, Sabicas... Paco de Lucía's album "Luzia" is the best flamenco album I've heard: fantastic harmonies and lots of technique.
One of my favorite styles of music, for sure! Although I don't know many flamenco players, I've absolutely fallen in love with Paco de Lucía's music and I have a soft spot for flamenco in general.
I love flamenco guitar. If I ever get over my love of rock guitar and superstrats I can definitely see me taking up this style of guitar playing at some point. ;)
I know they are less popular amongst metal players; anyway, there's plenty of good singers like Camarón de la Isla, one of the best voices I've ever heard. It's said he smoked tons, but his voice only changed a bit and it didn't make him a worse singer.
When he died, thousands of people came to the funeral; it's said it was a little chaotic.
He sings with Paco de Lucía playing guitar; for most people, all times flamenco duet. Please watch if case you feel some intrest.
