Well just extremely bored here..waiting for replies on my other ones so i gotta a question for y'all-
What is your favorite holiday and holiday meal?
(yes i live in USA forewarning..lol)
July 4th for holiday. Get to screw around with fireworks, plus it's two days after my b-day, so i get to brag to my bro about i have way more pyrotechnics than him B)
Meal- Hmmm..definately thanksgiving. Turkey is delicous.
Anyways this is off the thread a little bit but i hate when teachers or even parents put so much emphasis on how the pilgrims were under harsh conditions when arriving at the USA..the indians showed them how to hunt lobster and because of their religion they didnt even eat it. The indian saved their asses by teaching them how to plant seeds of corn and such and guess what? 100 years later during the Westward expansion the whites slay all the plains indian. B.S is what it is, that's why i dont care about the pilgrims.
Ratha Yatra followed closley by Diwali... Diwali's great, beats any weastern fireworks display ive ever seen and indeed id love to go up to Watford for it this year to the Bhaktivedanta Manor (George Harrisons old home he gave to the Hare Krishna's) but Ratha Yatra is the buisness IMO.
Food, Chariots, Dancing down Oxford Street with the hare Krishna's Maha Prasad (sanctified Vegitarian Food) and stalls so may good books. Best time ever!
And i cannot understate how AWSOME the food is, between milk fudge (burfi) and Mali Kofta and all sorts of tasty Dhal, Puri and Paneir. Indian festavals are the best because food is such a huge part of Hinduisim... and seeing as the Krishna's are strict vegitarians thats right up my alley!
Plus all the Kritans fun as, dancing your ass off till night time... thats what religion should be, mucho fun.
The only big holiday where I am from is xmas which I am beginning to really detest now due to the mass shopping hysteria surrounding it. I do all my xmas shopping in Sept/Oct so I don't get caught up in the melee. ;)
My favorite holiday is Christmas for sure. Lot's of time off of work and fun shopping for all my new nieces and nephews :)
But favorite holiday meal is always Easter! My mother makes a leg of lamb every Easter :P The best smelling and tasting meat ever. You either like it or hate it iv'e been told.
