For my money it's between Chris Cornell and Jorn Lande.
I also liked the now sadly departed Ray Gillen, ex Black Sabbath, Badlands.

Good question ID - current favourites are Jorn Lande and Russell Allen but i have a thing for Graham Bonnet in his prime.
IbanezDaemon - May 8, 2009 02:43 PM (GMT)
Yeah Bonnet has a great voice, fine singer.

Not sure his name ( or to lazy to wiki it ) but the singer from Pantera kicks it major. Try singing along with Cemetery Gates :)

Bruce Dickinson I think because he can pull it off live. I used to rate Sebastian Bach from Skid Row due to the singing on their debut release being pretty awesome. Live he is very inconsistant though.
Geof Tate from Queensryche was pretty good too.

| Devy :) |
Yes. Heavy Devy ftw!
Its all about Christineen... and Ziltoid... and City... and Alien... and Passion and warfare.
LittleSavage - May 8, 2009 03:56 PM (GMT)
I never considered Geof Tate cause I didnt think they were heavy enough but yea Hurricane he has a unique and just plain perfect voice I think and much better than the guy from Pantera. I change my vote :)

hands down,bruce dickinson.
Acousolysis - May 9, 2009 09:50 AM (GMT)
Devin Townsend, Mikael Åkerfeldt and Russell Allen, I guess. I find it hard to recall solists when I'm supposed to.
hvacfreak - May 9, 2009 10:50 AM (GMT)
I'll go with Ronnie James Dio ( Sabbath and Rainbow ).
Bruce Dickenson on Powerslave and Piece of Mind is good stuff.
Geoff Tate seemed to always have it together( early stuff is my fave).
John Arch ...perhaps inspired from everyone mentioned above ...seems to be a great guy ( from interviews I've read ).
( don't mind the guitars on these, k )

I'd have to say, Dio, and James Hetfield

I always liked Andi Deris, of Helloween, specially in "Time of the Oath" album. He can do some intresting things with his voice: sometimes is like a dark voice, sometimes more brilliant. Also has a cool way to "scream": he makes some harmonics when screaming.
hvacfreak - May 13, 2009 12:31 AM (GMT)
The OP still has me in suspense on his opinion.

My choices are,
Michael Matijevic (Steelheart) for sheer power and range
or Tony Harnell (TNT) for technical ability he's gotta be the Paul Gilbert of Vocalists 4 octave range and great vibrato

What people?
People who thinks Pearl Jam,Soundgarden and Audioslave are metal ?!
Well people can even think he started playing with Dio or Dickinson still it doesn't turns him into a metal singer.
In what metal band did he sang?
Google heavy metal and you'll see he has nothing to do with heavy metal or its history.(maybe story?)
I'm lost.
He's a rock singer and most of the time a pop rock singer.
What Soundgarden and Audioslave have to do with Iron Maiden?
I just google'd Cornell and google said it's working on a ELECTROPOP ALBUM.
WHAT THE FUCK bwahahahahahahahaha
IbanezDaemon - September 20, 2009 09:21 PM (GMT)
The term metal is pretty hard to define mate. What one person will define as metal another won't. I'm friends with some Death Metallers who would say that anything outside that genre is pissy and false metal. What qualifies as metal. Opinions will vary greatly on this and there are no defined parameters.

Nope ROCK is very hard to define but METAL is very easy to define that's why I told you to google heavy metal.
Maybe Wikipedia.
Things are what they are and not what people want.
Cornell wearing skulls and chains???!!!
Singing dark and smart lyrics with heavy guitars!
WHere ?
I want to see it bwahahahahahahah
WAit....why are we wasting our time with Cornell?
He doesn't care about us
IbanezDaemon - September 20, 2009 09:35 PM (GMT)
He sure doesn't care dude.. Thing is the original poster asked for our opinion. I stress the word 'opinion'. I gave mine, it's by no means the gospel truth, just my 2 cents worth. ;)
Peace!!
