Title: New Neoclass. albums?
Description: Which would you recommend?

Muramasa - April 4, 2009 10:19 PM (GMT)
Hello.

I made this tread just in case you could recommend some recent Neoclassical metal albums. Mostly I have 80's and 90's ones because they are all well known. Could you please recommend some new good ones?

Thanks in anticipation.

Matthew Mills and George Bellas both have some great stuff... also Vitalij Kuprij.

You posted some cool albums. Thanx.

Remember watching Andy James in YT; awesome technique.
"Divine W. of Tragedy": fine rythm combination, you never know what's coming next... I liked it.

I thought I'd add an album that I recently discovered upon doing research.

Martin Knye-Magiar - Twister (2000) among others that I'm still seeking. Those are also worth checking if you could find them.

I'm sure this Martin Knye fella would still be producing much more great music if only he hadn't contracted Focal Hand Dystonia (a rare condition that is only found in musicians who are at a masters level technique-wise, averaging out to be between the ages of 30-50). It's a shame really. That is not to imply that all musicians that are this stage of technical fluency on their instrument will necessarily become victimized by this unfortunate condition, but all of whom have so far, have been known to be musicians which are at least borderline virtuosos.
The last show he played was in 2003, albeit being diagnosed in about 2001. Nowadays he continues to be in good spirits, always looking for a way out of his current state. Check out his page if you're interested at: www.martinknye-magiar.com.ar/

Mattrach, 15 years old... Incredible. He did a NIIIIICE version.

But I can't believe how much crap some people say about him in YT.

Sometimes reading YT comments make me sick: how can some people be so ignorant and arrogant at the same time?

There is lots of useless obnoxious bastards writing comments in YT.
F**K THEM ALL.

Winters Bane - Heart of a Killer (1993) is kinda Neoclassical Power Metal with balls.

Overkilling84 - April 26, 2009 11:51 PM (GMT)
Ark Storm: All 3 albums

Overkilling84 - April 27, 2009 05:01 AM (GMT)
BTW, for further references, go to www.metal-archives.com and hit advanced search, then filter so that the results will only come out neoclassical. You should see every neoclassical metal band that the site has listed. I think that settles it.

RHAPSODY!!!!! by far the best neo-classical band of all time. just listen to the songs on the links im about to give and say otherwise, i dare you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH4HIn5Pfvg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye6YHQ8AZzU

and go to the solo at 7;20 for this one. possibly the most neo-classical thing ever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM6hL78so9c

but to answer your question, their albums i would recommend are Dawn of Victory, Symphony of Enchanted Lands parts 1 and 2, and Legendary Tales

Coulden't agree with you more.

All their music is written by Luca Turilli(my god). Luca also has 4 solo albums that are on-par or even better than Rhapsody. Same studio, vocals, choir, everything.

Might I recommend "Prophet of the Last Eclipse?"

Iv got 2 of his solo albums, King of the Nordic Twilight and Infinite Wonders of Creation. In my opinion, the song Kings of the Nordic Twilight is possibly the most epic song ever written. Infinite Wonders is good, but its kinda strange for luca turilli, it isnt based so much on the guitar, but still good. And yeah, hes definitly one of my favorites guitar players, hes probably the best sweep picker of all time.

I just listened to that song on the way home man, great work.

However, War of the Universe is still is most epic work in my personal opinion.

I mean honestly..."WAR OF THE UNIVERSE"

Muramasa - May 23, 2009 04:57 AM (GMT)
"Epic songs"... I like some Queen and Blind Guardian songs which are rather "epic" (I mean powerful too). I think Rhapsody is more neoclassical; Blind Guardian sounds a bit like medieval music, in my opinion. They have plenty of powerful songs and very good clean riffs. And their singer is cool too.

Electric Jake - September 18, 2009 01:08 AM (GMT)
If you want recent, like 2008-2009 then Versailles is the band to watch. These links are only a couple months old

Silent Knight
Ascendead Master

But Hizaki's solo project in 2007 produced a tune I think rates up there with The End Of The Beginning
Race Wish

Thanks! I tend to go very Power/Progressive Metal heavy and then I was thinking how I needed to increase my Neo-classical collection and happened upon this site.

Here is a YouTube Clip of Seree Lee
