Title: Best gig?
IbanezDaemon - March 12, 2009 02:54 PM (GMT)
Okay guys what was the best gig you have ever been to? Maybe it wasn't by your fave guitarist/band but it was the gig that holds the best memories for you.
Mine was Guns'n'Roses at Slane Castle Ireland in 1991 on the 'Use Your Illusion' tour. The gig was about 3 hours away from us so me and about 20 of my mates hired a coach and driver, filled said coach with grog and set off. Open air gig, plenty of beer, 30 degrees Centigrade without a cloud in the sky and Faith No More as support to the Gunners. Bliss! B)

For me it would have to be Rock 2 Welington, and both nights... i wanna say the night with Whitesnake and Ozzy, but Ozzy was lame and didnt play a full set but Whitesnake... Whitesnake was awsome.
The First night Kiss played as did Alice Cooper, and i was stoned out of my gorde and it was just the best weekend. I know its not ONE gig per se but it was the best time man.
ED: And Reb Beach is such a Dude, as is Aldrich.

As much as I'd love to say it was Deep Purple, who I've seen twice (they seem to love the place, they come here nearly every year), but I can't for it was an arena and we were far from the stage. Not really something to get your spirits up. They are a great live act for sure, though. Lots of experience.
I'll have to say the best gig I've been to was this one charity concert last January. We went to see a pal's band (MedicateD, you'll most probably hear about them in the near future) play with many other bands, but the main act (Stam1na, a popular Finnish metal band), who I really don't even like, were awesome live. I spent the whole gig in the pit and had lots of fun.
Even got out of there with minimal damage!

I don't know, it's all become a blur...
Seeing DT for the first time was definitely special. Mr. Bungle also made a huge impact on me on their California tour. I also have very fond memories of an acoustic MMW concert at the New England Conservatory.
Most recently, Opeth was mind-blowing last December.

I saw them on that tour too. Awesome. They did a cover of 'Ain't talkin bout love' by Van Halen which was funny. Patton's Fantomas are pretty great live too.
Only made it to Castle Donnington Monsters of Rock one year - 1992 but it was a great day, Skid Row, Slayer, Iron Maiden. Maybe that's the best but seeing Yngwie live in a small venue was pretty cool too.

It was on the Odessey tour with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals and hair piece. They were playing at Edwards No.8 in Birmingham which is quite a small club. Missed the last train home so had to sleep in the train station. Woke up in the morning and there was a guy standing on his head next to me.

Yeah, Fantomas was great live as well. I think they're actually better live than on record. The Slayer medley killed me.

I've only been to 4 concerts in my life.. Seen Aerosmith twice -Nine Lives tour both in 97, Walnut Creek Raleigh, NC AND Greensboro. And got to see Yngwie on his Fire & Ice tour in 92 and Joe Satriani in 97 or 98.
As much as I love Yngwie he was promoting his Fire & Ice cd and I love the 1st 4 cd's like nothing else. Maybe if it was the Marching Out tour i'd give him the nod but Satch!!! Holy Shit is all I can say. I knew the man could play but every song he played was exactly as it is on the cd's! No pussing out on the tough spots like some guitarist have to do live it was just an amazing experience N technically mindblowing :) House of Blues, Myrtle Beach, SC
But the way Yngwie started the concert was so sweet, it was almost totally dark and then you hear the bass pedals and this mind numbing trill and a run from hell then he goes into the instrumental -Perpetual- Damn he was also note for note perfect :) Have the stub framed with the 2 pick's I caught. He was flinging them right and left. The saddest part was the damn MC had to come out after he left the stage and get the audience to make some noise to get him out for an encore! Damn southerners they have no idea what they were listening to I guess! It was at the Purple Gator at Myrtle Beach SC
But Satch i'd say

I remember watching Eric Sardinas in a small pub in Valencia. I didn't knew who he was, but soon I realized he was no ordinary man: he gave a fantastic performance with his slide technique.
Later I noticed he toured with Steve Vai.
