Title: Rondo Alla Turca

Acousolysis - January 10, 2009 10:35 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know the original tempo of this hugely popular classical masterpiece? I believe it's 120 but I'm not entirely sure.

I need to know this because I'm gonna play it at a marathon concert with this drummer pal of mine (which whom I practice). We're basically gonna play a metal version of it, but I don't know if I should play it at a tempo of 140. Thus I need to know the original tempo.

You know, i taught Mozart everything he knows so any praise toward him should be sent directly towards me.

Okay, well Dev knows his stuff for sure. IMO Mozart is the greatest musician of all time. The term genius is often overused but it truly applies to him. I love the Rondo Alla Turca piece. I worked out the first few bars of it one night at a party while I was plastered on this childs keyboard  I actually posted Alex Masi doing a shred version of this in the Rate the Piece thread.

All true! Luckily I have like 5 month to work on that scalar run in the middle of the piece, because I have to know it by heart and play it fluently by the time we play it at the marathon concert.
