Title: Metal and Guitars Stuff in Korea
Description: No one likes this stuff.
Orzandotl - November 26, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
I realized that in Japan, metal is appreciated quite a lot. In Korea, only a few people like metal.
I get very angry when people say that metal is crap, but at the same time, I understand.
I've heard a few metal bands in Korea, and the SUCK!!!!
The problem is that if this goes on, what will people like me do!
Go to the United States and end up like Herman? Well, even though he is famous, lots of people think he sucks, and he gets discriminated a bit!
ARGH

If you are talking about Herman Li, the reason he gets so much flack is because his playing is very inconsistent and sometimes sounds bloody aweful. If he played well all the time like mr Gilbert for example, he would fare quite a lot better IMO.

... Herman is a Brit though and its not like there isnt a strong guitar community over here...
Also its not like Korea has NO metal community... hell i came from a nation of 4mill people and we had one... plus there are well known Korean metal exports albiet that are known to the metal community...
I mean go to the US if you wish, and i went to the UK for similar reasons but explore your own country well perhaps before you write it off...
As for MR Li and slagging... all i can say is that he would be a decent enough guitarist if he cut back on the drinking...
Im sure he would be better if he gave up all together, and spent the time on bettering what he has. fame does not = ability.

Yes well born somewhere but brought up there kinda makes you that... Im a brit but i was brought up in NZ so i consider myself a Kiwi...
Besides from what i know he picked up guitar when he was in England... has an English accent, and moved here beceause of his family... not like what ive done and what Orz is proposing by moving to a diffrent country for career purposes.
Quite a big diffrence...
Like Cradle moving to the US after being signed to Sony.
Anyway details asside after thinking a little more Orz do what you gotta do man, if it really feels like you need to move to progress in what you wanna do then do it... just try get a feel for what your getting into, like spend some time in the country rather than moving in Blind (so to speek). Its going to be a challenge but you will grow as a result of it and your music will probably progess in a way you never thought would happen... Enjoy the ride man.
Speeking of progression ive got my assesment for the GIT in London comming up in Dec on the 16th. Let you all know how it goes... ive been bad with practice since i got to the UK... to much to do you know... anyway back all guns blazing and its feeling really amazing.
Peace

Do it man. Tell you what though going to Uni is a very cool experiance too so its neat to hear of others who are doing things a similar way round.
Im probably going to rip out Deaths 'Empty words' if they ask me to play a song... or maybe Down to Mexico for giggles... plus a couple Al Di Meiola like lines for the jazz bit... well i hope anyway. Either way im sure its going to be a great experiance and if i dont get in i will work my ass off for another 8 months TO get in.
Thanks for the support guys.
Peace
