Title: Tony MacAlpine

neoshredder - February 14, 2008 09:52 AM (GMT)
MacAlpine is my all-time favorite shredder. He mixes shred well with melodic stuff is why I like his music so much. I prefer his solo stuff over CAB and Planet X as later on he got more into Jazz fusion. Maximum Security and Edge of Insanity are my favorite 2 cd's of his. Here are some of his best works.

Yes, Tony MacAlpine is not only one of the greatest negro virtuosos generally, but also one of over-the-top neoclassical shredders in the history of the genre.

If you like his music, feel free to watch one of his best videoclips "Key to the City". Have a nice watching and listening.

Devon~ Thanks for the link. That was AMAZING! I just don't understand how people could walk by without stopping, or just pause momentarily. I just wouldn't be able to leave. That little girl told the guy something before he finally left... I don't care what that girl said... if she was like "I have to go potty", then I'd be like "alright... just go ahead and pee right here, cuz we are NOT leaving!"

Good stuff.

Tony MacAlpine is one of my favorites. I like his CAB stuff just as much as his neoclassical metal stuff. I know those are way on the opposite sides of the musical spectrum, so I understand how many people only like one or the other. I'm one of the lucky ones... I just happen to love metal and fusion :P Besides with Dennis Chambers (one of the BEST) on drums, how can you NOT like CAB?

Devon8822 - July 13, 2008 07:00 PM (GMT)
DENNIS CHAMBERS!!!! I love his drumming... I could listen to the CAB albums without anything but the drums... thats how unique and good sounding his drumming is. A lot of Macalpines new stuff is great... Ring of Fire... CAB... Planet X...

I haven't gotten into it. Maximum Security seems so much better than the newer stuff imo. Better tone, more melodic shred, and etc. Edge of Insanity is my second favorite.

I like a lot of his solos on the M.A.R.S Project Driver thing he did. Some cool melodies and shredding.

Yeah that was a good album. Macalpine,Aldridge,Rock,Sarzo. I used to have it. Been trying to buy a copy for sometime now. Difficult to locate. :(

I think it's still available to buy on the Shrapnel Web site. When I'm feeling flush, I'll probabley buy a stack of cds from that site to replace my Vinyl that I can't listen to any more cos I aint got a player.

Have you ever checked out guitar nine records? They have everything for the guitar enthusiast including cd's from all genres. They ship to the UK as well plus a new cd from them costs only from £7 to £9 I think.

Thanks for the tip on Guitar nine site Daemon - there's tons of interesting stuff on there! :)
