Title: Guitar solos
Description: Your top 5
IbanezDaemon - September 9, 2008 02:01 PM (GMT)
What are your top 5 guitar solos of all time.
My five and I know I've overlooked some are:
1 Paul Gilbert's solo from his Metal Dog introduction to his 'Terrifying Guitar Trip' instructional dvd.
2 Yngwie's fadeout solo to the Suffer Me song from the Alcatraz 'No Parole From Rock'n'Roll' album.
3 Marty Friedman and Jason Becker's solo from the Cacophony song X-Ray Eyes.
4 Vinnie Moore's fade out solo on 'The Tempest' from his Time Odyssey album.
5 Joe Stump's solo on the 'Sign of the Cross' from his 'Conquer and Divide' album.
I also have to give a mention to Jason Becker's lead gutar break about 2 minutes into the Cacophony song Black Cat. Not a guitar solo but one of the most terrifying licks ever! :)

1. Concerto by Cacophony even though the whole thing is basically one guitar solo.
2. Speed Metal Symphony by Cacophony even though, once again, it is basically one massive guitar solo.
3. Dave Mustaines solo to Holy Wars by Megadeth
4. Crazy Train by Randy Rhoades
5. Jake E. Lees Bark at the moon solo
Very hard to choose btw, i'll probably change my mind later on about one of the options.

Nice! I forgot about the Bark at the Moon solo. One of my all time faves and definitely Jake E Lee's best.

Yeah Scarified is a great tune. I was swapping ideas and gonna do a version of this tune with an online friend of mine (he came second in the Minnesota guitar Wars and featured in Mike Varney's spotlight column). After a bit of work on it I came up with the idea of mixing Scarified with the other Racer X song Scit Scat Wah. I always thought there were similarities between those two songs.
Did you know that Scarified is loosely based on a Bach Harpsichord suite?
