Title: Annihilator

I don't expect that many of you guys will know this band, but I would like to introduce them to you. This band is a Canadian (whooo!) 80s thrash band... and although they are thrash they have a heavy classical influence, particularly because the band is essentially one man (Jeff Waters), as the rest of the band is usually different every album... but Waters writes everything. Anyways, he played classical guitar as a child so.
There early stuff is really the only thing to bother with. The rest is not neo classical at all really just newer style metal. Anyways, first 2 albums are excellent!

If it wasn't for me Devon, you might have found them :D Jeff is great! New albums are more of a newer metal style, first 2 are great 80s thrash.

I love thrash metal :P
Waters is one of the best techincal guitarist i have ever heard in thrash metal
his style playing is very weird, he often used to make diphonic (i don't know how this is spell really...) chords to create a "dark" ambient in some songs
cheers :D

He did a lot of classical guitar when he started out and I think he had older siblings that were pretty good musicians as well, but i could be wrong.

Wow~ Hey guys... I just found this forum and I am only a few posts deep; but, I'm getting all misty eyed already. You guys sure know how to bring out the classics that most people have probably never even heard off. I feel so welcome here *sniff* *sniff* hahahaha
Anyways.... yea... I definitely remember Annihilator. I first bought the album with "Alice in Hell" on it (was that the name of the album? Was it their first?) That was awesome! I think I wore that tape out. I remember a classical instrumental called "Crystal Ann", think it was the album opener. That made me an instant Jeff Waters fan.
I remember taping the Alice in Hell video off of Headbanger's Ball and playing along with it all the time. Hmm... I wonder if I still remember how to play that. hehehe
I thought their next album was *decent*, but I didn't listen to it much... I heard some of their stuff after that, but didn't much like it.

ACDC was showing me all these metal bands he found when I was it his house a couple years ago, and he ripped out Alison Hell... :ph43r: ... why where these guys not as big as Metallica? (thats probably a good thing though).

So was 'Never, Neverland' their 2nd album? Did it have Stone Wall on it? I remember seeing that video.
I'm impressed that you can play Crystal Ann. I never had the patience to even start trying to figure it out.

Yes Never, Neverland has Stone Wall, and it is their second album. Stone Wall is one of my favorite Annihilator tunes, the solo is INSANE! It sounds like it came out of a thrash version of VH + RR. lol!
