Title: Society
Schubert - July 24, 2010 12:36 AM (GMT)
I'm bored so I decided to do a little poll. This isn't maybe the most typical forum for a political poll like this, but that's excatly why I think I can get interesting answers.
If you have time you can answer to following questions in detail:
How do you think we should arrange our economy? What kind of society do you support? What is your very own utopia? How do you describe your political standpoint?

Is this forum dead or something?

It seems that someone has answered to my poll. Thanks :D

I didn't reply because I don't know shit about the economy.

I voted 'Mixed Economy Leaning Towards Socialism'. I would probably be of an anti-capitalist ethos, too much greed in the world, look where it's left the economy now.
My idea of a Utopian society would be one that is completely crime free. Maybe that does happen in some of the smaller religious communities but on a large scale basis it would probably never happen.

Don't be intimidated by the word "economy". It's very good that you know your limits but I'm sure you have at least somekind of utopia or opinion how the society should be.
Ask yourself two question:
1)How big the government should be? If you don't support big government you should vote anarcho capitalism, anarcho communism or minarchistic laissez faire capitalism. If you believe in big government you should vote centrally planned economy/socialism. If your opinion is somewhere in between you should vote the mixed economy.
2)Do you believe in private or collective property? Anarcho capitalism, minarchistic laissez faire capitalism and mixed economy leaning towards capitalism support private property. Anarcho communism and centrally planned economy support collective property. Mixed economy leaning towards socialism is somewhere in between.
Here is something that might help you:

http://www.politicalcompass.org/facebook/p...-2.12&soc=-6.00There's my result for that test.
I favour small government and private property.
Edit: My idea of Utopia would be an entirely secular world and one where there are a lot less religious people and those that are religious don't try to and have no intention of mixing their fairy tales in with politics. It would also be nice to have everyone respecting everyone elses right to free speech and where noone thinks being offended is justification for shutting someone up and with an entirely free press in every country and where noone believes in homeopathy, esp, astrology and all that psuedoscience crap.
It would also be a world where Christopher Walken is president and everyone rides to work on chocolate dinosaurs. Based on the way things are, these last two things are the most likely to happen.

Something like mixed economy leaning towards socialism: out of all the social structures, communism is the most beautiful and "user-friendly" system. Human and individualism are the only things that prevent communism from blossoming.

I think that a mixed economy leading toward capitalism would be the best type. I favor small gov't and i think that the only thing the gov't should interfear with is safety of workers and monopolies.
I also kinda agree with Steve i think that gov't and religon should not have anything to do with each other and we all respect each others right to free speech.
I think that if we had smarter less monitarily motivated people in our gov't we would have a shot at acheving this. The original people in my gov't were not payed a rat's ass to be in a leadership position.
TAXES- Fuck them (mostly). I thinky that the tax system we had during WWI was awesome (like a penny on the dollar or so) they steadily increased that into the 40% something percent we have today.
Correct me if I a wrong on anything, I'm a pretty open minded individual when it comes to factual and provable information. And i must have made 6 or 7 grammatical and/or spelling errors in that rant just act like they arn't there. :P

I guess if I had to go for one it would be laissez faire liberal economics although from a social standpoint I feel a certain amount of state intervention is necessary to try to promote equal opportunity for individuals which is something I believe strongly in.
