Title: Surfing With The Alien Album Poll!

IbanezDaemon - June 29, 2010 03:04 PM (GMT)
Released in 1987 Surfing with the Alien was a landamrk album which launched Joe Satriani firmly into the spotlight and gained him international acclaim. Joe handled all guitar duties as well as bass and keyboards on the album with various guys helping out on Percussion duties and I'm pretty sure drum programming. The album was actually re-released in both 1997 and 2007 as well.

I love this album, easily my fave Satch offering although I was somewhat put off by the programmed drums (???) on parts of it. I'd also put money on this being the most commercially successful instrumental guitar album of all time. Great tracks on this from up-tempo shred tunes to more thought provoking songs as well. 10/10 from me.

One of the most diverse guitar instrumental albums of all time. I was blown away by Satch's slurring technique like in the beginning solo from Ice 9. Really interesting to listen to - even for the non guitar slinging lay man.

Really good. By far my favorite album Satriani. Always With You, Always With Me is my favorite track on here. I'll give it a 9/10.

The record gets a 9 from me. Definitely up there in the better end of guitar albums.
