Anyone here speak any language other than English and whatever their native language is?
I've just begun learning Latin using this:

My native being Finnish, I also speak fluent English and, err, not-that-fluent Swedish.
The reason for Swedish is that it's still the second official language in Finland and is a mandatory subject in schools. Rather old-fashioned.

I did Latin at the Grammar School I went to as a teenager. I also did French and German there as well. I'd say I could just about get by in France, Germany and Ancient Rome! ;)

I'm learning latin. About three years now, I have to do four or I have to take a test on it when I sign up for college. It's an okay language. I might finish my high school years with it.

I'm finding it hard to memorize the words and speak them in sentences but I can always read it just fine.

Studuying languages is something I really like. It's like a hobby for me. Very often people who like writing like studying languages too.
I like writing since I was a child, so it became a work: I have experience correcting Spanish, my mother tongue, and writing/correcting official texts in my city council, where I worked some years. Later I had some really big responsability in the correspondence and articles -correcting rather than giving ideas- of a known association of my country, but that's another story...
I am surprised to see some people are intrested on Latin. That's strange even among "latin" people... I took my old books again when I stopped playing guitar -injury- this winter and dedicated some months. Very similar to Spanish since it's the "grandfather" of it; very intresting since you can read texts wrotten 2000 years ago (2300 the oldests). Here you can do a max of 4 years in secondary school.
I studied English at the university and sec. school. Also some years of French and a year of German (I study some German from time to time and my father can speak it). But I mainly study Japanese. Started around 2003 and managed to get two certificates. I like specially the written language because of the kanjis. First time I talked to a native in his language was a great day for me... I had a special feeling because some years ago I never imagined I could speak to a japanese in japanese.
I have some books of basic Chinese but I rather compare it to Japanese than study it. Spoken Chinese is hell: very very difficult. I also can speak Catalonian, it's my second language because I live in Valencia; it's like a mixture of Spanish and French, also spoken in South France. It always helped when learning French.
