I'd like to know what classical instruments you play (or have played) and how it helped you to read music on guitar. I played the oboe for 3 years, and it has always helped me read better and with theory. Anyway I still need too much time when reading music sheets.
When reading guitar music, did you start from scratch?
I can sightread on the guitar in first position fluently. I just sightread at least about 10-20 minutes a day.
I'm trying to get myself a piano because my dad's friend who is a composer from the early days of jazz and bebop and he said to emphasize on classical piano and harmony. He said if I do that right now, in about 10 years I can do anything.
Yes, some friends of mine who study music also tell the piano helps a lot; now that you said it I remembered, so thanks
I think you were given good advice. Today I came back to guitar classes after some years, and my old teacher made something to test me... I was hoping to play scales and arpegios or improvisations, so I really practiced this days... but he just gave me a sheet with music and it has been really hard for me!
