Have you tried to play a cheap guitar after a long time playing a good an expensive one? It can be deceiving, since the more quality a guitar have, the more easy to play. At least I was deceived when I tried to do that.
I often train with my first guitar, a very cheap one, and without distortion, just to hear clearly every mistake. Then, when I change to the Ibanez, I feel a wonderful sensation and I feel like playing better with less effort.
I wonder if you think it's a good exercise and if you think a good guitar somehow makes you relax your technique.
Nice one Muramasa, I did the exact same thing as you for years upon years. I used to warm up on a battered old acoustic guitar with a pretty high action and then when you picked up an Ibanez everything felt totally effortless.
Having a good guitar definitely helps your technique but I have always thought that it's the player who makes the guitar not the other way round. A good guitarist will make even a cheap instrument sound great.
Funny I do the same thing.
I like the tone of a fixed bridge guitar. When I play the chords, it sounds great.
I'm lacking in my vibrato. So I switched to my first guitar which is an electric Yamaha guitar. It helps my hand gets use to the tension. I rarely touch my Ibanez anymore except when I go to guitar lessons. I'm sure once I get better I'll start using my Ibanez more.
After all, I supposse is a good exercise. Anyway it's true that is the guitarist who makes the guitar, but if this helps improving just a bit...
