slashjames - April 30, 2010 08:36 PM (GMT)
Hi, Guys has anyone come across Yngwie Malmsteens Orchestral Score for Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra in Eb Minor. I have the guitar tab book, but I really need the full score if anyone knows where I can download it or buy it, it would be awesome. I have given up searching just cant find it.

I don't think they have that.
But I think someone from Yngwie fan club might have it or know where to get one. Just email Yngwie or his fan club.

You've Got Yngwie's Email?

No but I'm sure there's a way to contact him.

Guys, even if you could contact Yngwie directly I don't think you'd get a reply from him especially as you would be requesting something from him that is under copyright in his name I'd guess. Unless the score is actually available to buy and he's gonna recieve some type of royalty payment from it I'd say you have next to no chance. Just my 2 cents, I could be wrong. I wish you well in finding the score slashjames. I had a look online but could find nothing apart from one guy who says he transcribed it.

Actually I found the link again and what I was looking at was Malmsteens keyboardist at the time, David Rosenthal who said that he actually scored the whole piece for Yngwie as Yngwie does not read music. Unfortunately in the link I was reading none of the score is actually posted but it may help your search for the piece if you look more into David Rosenthal sheet music 'cos he's the guy who wrote the whole thing down to begin with it seems.

Very interesting thanks a lot man!!

Yngwie doesn't read music. Haha! I thought since he grew up in a family of musicians he would know how to.

That was really shocking to me too, but I assume he can read but probably is not good at it hence "does not read". Coz he knows enough about classical forms and has written fugues and stuff. Reading music is not hard to learn but being good at it is hard. Also very few people on earth would be able to read and play what Yngwie plays(dreadfully i know there are some).

I'm pretty sure he can read to a certain extent since he knows theory and harmony. But going from reading music to writing and orchestrating an entire score? That's a pretty big leap!

A slight note, the "fugue" in his Concerto isn't actually a fugue. a pet peeve of mine...

malikshreds - May 5, 2010 07:53 PM (GMT)
if it's not fugue, what is it?

funny, I act the same way about music. My friend drew a an eighth note without a flag on the stem. Drove me crazy all day.

Don't know what to call it, but its definitely not a fugue. Fugues have a very particular form. Yngwie's has more of a song form and doesn't modulate or anything.
