Which range of guitars you are going to be able to choose from will depend on your budget so if you let us know that we may be able to advise you a bit better. Thanks!

What's the price range and which currency?
ilikeguitar - April 19, 2010 08:43 PM (GMT)
i was looking in ebay and saw that they r much cheaper my range would be anything up to 500$ maybe 600$ lol
malikshreds - April 19, 2010 09:33 PM (GMT)
Look into Ibanez, Charvel, or Jackson.
Ibanez is the most used guitar by neoclassical metal guitarist, same with Fender.
Steve5513 - April 19, 2010 09:36 PM (GMT)
Ibanez would be the way to go.
ilikeguitar - April 20, 2010 12:22 AM (GMT)

Hmm not really. Depends on what body feels normal to you. All I can say is be careful of what type trem you buy. The cheap Ibanez trems can be a pain. Especially since it's not a regular Floyd Rose.
IbanezDaemon - April 20, 2010 02:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah the cheap Ibanez trems are inferior systems but the Ibanez Edge (original) and Lo Pro Edge are the best floating trems in the business bar none imho, way better than the original Floyds.
But hold on.... You don't like Ibanez?? Have you played any of the good RG Models, Jem, JCRG etc???
Steve5513 - April 20, 2010 03:26 AM (GMT)
I think he mean he doesn't like the way they look.
I would advise against buying a guitar that you don't like the look of if it bothers you.

Ah right, sorry my mistake.
So you don't like the look of Ibanez guitars???  eh?
Nah man, only kidding. You gotta like the guitar aesthetically I suppose before you'll buy it, very true!! If you don't like the look of them that's it, the buck stops there. Lots of other good superstrat type guitar in your price range on the market.
IbanezDaemon - April 20, 2010 04:29 AM (GMT)
ilike guitar: It pays to know what you're looking for in a guitar. I mean have you spec preferences for the type of axe that will best suit you eg
Body Shape? Strat, Superstrat, Les Paul, Flying V etc
Body Wood, Mahogany, Basswood, Alder, Ash etc
Neck Type, Bolt on, Set neck thru etc
Fingerboard: Maple, Rosewood, Ebony etc
Trem, Floating/Double locking, Single locking, No trem/hardtail etc
Pickup config: HSH, HSS, SSS
Strings; 6 string, 7 string, More???
No of Frets: 21, 22, 24, More???
Neck Width, Slim, Medium, Baseball bat lol!!!
Lots of factors/guitars to consider but it's a nice choice to have to make. Has me Gasing for a new guitar actually!! :D

Get one with 24 frets since you have other guitars that have at least 22.
As for tips, go to the store, pick a guitar, plug it into some pedals and amps and jam. That's the basic ways to go. Also, ask the clerks what they think about the guitar.

Also if they say you should buy this guitar. Ask them why and how will it sound for the genre of music you play.

go with the MTM2, don't bother with a trem guitar just yet mate. They take sooo much work to get setup comfortably, and changing strings is just ridiculously hard if you're changing gauges.
ilikeguitar - April 22, 2010 07:31 PM (GMT)
wuts a trem guitar? and also i really like the RG5EX1, not very expensive and seems good or the RG4EXFM1
Steve5513 - April 22, 2010 11:13 PM (GMT)
That Rg420 is one sexy looking guitar. :o

It's completely up to you, man. No one can substitute for your own opinions.
Hurricane Kid - April 24, 2010 08:53 AM (GMT)
Only you can decide that buddy - if you can compare guitars with mahogany Vs basswood body that may give you an idea of which wood you prefere the sound of - but the pickups also make a huge difference. Ibanez stock pickups aren't renound as being that great so you may want to swap them out for some Dimarzios later on.
It would be great if you could find a store with all of those guitars to try to compare tone and playability but that may not be possible.
They all look awsome guitars for the price - looks wise I prefere the first two but unless you play a lot of slipknot songs I would avoid the MTM2 as you will have to get the guitar completely re-set up if you want to go back to standard tuning - including adjusting the truss rod.
I'd probabley go for the RG420.

Again, the ones that feel the most comfortable for you to play. No strings are faster to play than others, though it is true that high gauge strings require more physical work.

i didnt see the MTM2 was set up in drop B. But wouldnt guitar center set it up for him if he asked? most guitar shops offer free set ups when you get it.

some gutiar centers charge u wich is pretty gay
malikshreds - April 26, 2010 12:27 AM (GMT)
I'm not surprised because it's a big franchise and people sometimes drop the guitars. Mainly because it's a big franchise. Funny thing is I never stepped into a guitar center in my life. I got a great local music store and I get discounts thanks to my guitar teacher.

If I were you mate I'd rather buy a used Japanese made Ibanez guitar than a new Korean or Indonesian made Ibanez. Japanese=better guitar/build quality/pickups/trem etc. I don't know where you live but if you're from the USA you should be able to pick up a used RG770DX for around $500, hell of a guitar for the money!!
ilikeguitar - April 26, 2010 11:08 PM (GMT)
dude that guitar is over 1000 dollars where did u fint it for 500? lol
acdc51502112 - April 27, 2010 05:24 AM (GMT)
*USED* is the key word here. You can also check out RG550s you can get them for as low as $250

I bought the very guitar in the pic above a good few months back but as I live in the UK it cost me a good bit more than $500 as guitar prices here are much higher than in the USA but you can find them for around $500 Used price in the States.
For instance one sold on Jemsite the other day for $525 and it also had the pickups upgraded to DiMarzio's.

Those RG770DX's pop up on ebay regularly enough so it's best to keep an eye for one. If I see one for sale anywhere else I'll let you know. I would strongly recommend that you consider buying an Ibanez RG550, you'll always find those for sale on ebay and there is no better shred type guitar for the money.
Muramasa - May 27, 2010 07:41 PM (GMT)
I can't believe you can buy a RG770 for 500 dollars. I spent circa 1200 euros in my RG570 some years ago. I bought the japanese one, and never gave me too much trouble: it's a very good guitar but it needs to be always perfectly adjusted to give its best.
When buying an ibanez, you must be sure you like the tune of these guitars, since its pretty different to classical rock guitars we are used to listen to.
I like the tune but I'd like to own a stratocaster too.
ilikeguitar - May 27, 2010 11:18 PM (GMT)
the thing about the Ibanez RG550, is that i dotn liek the fret markers all my gutiar have the same one i want a cahnge in that you know the dots. Any other guitar tahts not the rg550 and is good for shred and sounds pretty good?
