Title: CGI In Movies

How do you feel about CGI in movies?

I hate it. For example, it's one of the reasons I hate the star wars prequel movies. Everything looks fake and crap what with the entire movie being shot infront of blue screen as the entire set and then everything added in later. Where as, with the Originals, everything looks more real because, well, it IS real. I would imagine that it also allows actors to act properly when the set is actually a proper set instead of THIS

(Especially in episode 3, I watched the behind the scenes of that and most of the sets were literally just completely blue screen EVERYWHERE)

Also, Just for the lolz:

I don't mind. For instance, the original Star Wars trilogy seems very clumsy for today's standards. Besides, the later Star Wars are pretty dated by now.

Obviously the most modern example of CGI at the moment would be Avatar. And, well, I loved the technical aspects of the film!

I do wonder if we'll ever reach the point where one cannot tell computer from real.

Saw a pre rendered screenshot of some scenery the other day that took me a few seconds before I realized it was not actually real, so no doubt we will reach that point.

When I watched 300 for the first time. I could barely tell if it was CGI or real actors. I don't mind CGI. At least, they're not doing the costume stuff anymore.

I think it is difficult to form a consistent view for or against CGI one way or the other. I think it depends how it is used within the context of the particular film and also the talent of the people using it.

Sometimes CGI looks completely convincing and other times looks completely lame.
