Title: Alvarez Dana Scoop.

IbanezDaemon - April 1, 2010 06:36 PM (GMT)
Came across one of these guitars online the other day. It's made by Alvarez and is known as the Dana Scoop model. I gotta say I like the styling of this guitar although I'm pretty sure that some would be put off by the very pronounced cutaway. Any opinions on this guys? Love it or hate it??

I've got a few of these.

This model has the Modulus graphite neck and is slick as can be. You'll find them on eBay and Craig's list every so often. They sold for about $1000 in the late '80s and early '90s. Designed by Dana Sutcliff, get the story here http://danamusic.com/modules.php?name=News...article&sid=777

They play very well and are a real deal if you can get them for $300. Way better then current guitars at twice the price.

And wicked cool to look at.

Looks like someone added a kill switch to this one.

I remember those guitars - they certainly look individual. Not really my cup of tea and I wonder why only 22 frets with that massive cut-away - seems a waste not to go to 24.

I'm sure they are quality instruments.

I'm worried about the stability issues you'd get from that kind of a cutaway

Looks awful in my opinion. :P
