Anyone else into Michael Schenker? I have several MSG albums and one of the Schenker UFO albums. Most of his playing is not neoclassical, but some of his instrumentals hav a little bit of a neoclassical feel, such as the instrumental Bijou Pleasurette.
Love Schenker! UFO is a really great band, and his solo stuff is good too.
Here is a clip I really like, of him in the Scorpions with his brother Rudolph. Most people don't know he was in the scorps... and was acctually replaced by Uli Jon Roth when he left the band. But yeah, Schenker was on the first Scorps album... classic clip, check it out, really early clip.

That video is awesome!! No doubt that is Mike on the guitars! The coolest part is that, in 1972, Mike was only like 17 years old!! You could already hear the beginnings of that unique sound that made his MSG and UFO albums so incredible. Also, gotta love the hair and beards!! Major sixties hippie look there.
Was that first Scorpions album called "Lonesome Crow"? I haven't heard any of the early Scorpions stuff. I was just a widdle baby laying in my widdle crib back in '72. My first exposure to the Scorps the eighties stuff back in high school. I really want to find a cassette tape copy of that first Scorps album with Schenker to add to my MSG/UFO album collection.
BTW, did you know UFO is just starting their US spring 2008 tour about now? My wife and I will be seeing them this coming Sunday night in Akron, Ohio. Vinnie Moore is lead axe man these days. They will be playing stuff from their latest album, MOnkey Puzzle, but I am hoping they will also do some of the classics like Doctor Doctor. After all, what would a UFO concert be without Doctor Doctor?
They start the tour in the Northeast tomorrow, I believe, playing somewhere out near NYC, hitting Baltimore next, then Akron on Sunday. They play Pittsburgh this coming TUesday. After Pitt, they are out around Chicago or Milwaukee and head West from there.
That show should be great!
The first Scorps album is Lonesome crow yes, and that is the one that Schenker played on fully. There are also some singles that he wrote/played on later on. He played guitar on Lovedrive, Another Piece Of Meat and Coast To Coast, off of the album Lovedrive. So if your a MS collector I would get Lonesome crow for sure, and Lovedrive.
