Title: Recording equipment?
Adrian276 - December 19, 2009 01:53 PM (GMT)
Hi all,
Im sure I'm not calling things like they are called cause my bad english...ull have to try to guess some things lol.
Well christmas are here and I'm finally not a noob (I've actually learnt to play my loved 2th caprice!) so I think the time for broadcasting(?) me playing something and extend the neoclassical movement has come :D
Problem is, what I have to record myself is a 40€ Microsoft Connect webcam. The img quality is pretty good but the sound one stinks badly.
So I want a recording equipment that records both image and sound. You know, like people in youtube playing. Some have a very good soudn quality so I assume they are not using a cheap webcam like me.
My price range is around 0-300€ but I could spend a bit more if the supergood model was 350€.
Any thoughts on this or concrete tips about any product?

The highest quality videos on YouTube have been recorded straight onto the computer, which means the audio and video have been recorded and are on separate tracks.
For really good audio gear - computer programs included - you're going to have to pay hundreds. I mean, we are speaking way over 500 euros.
Of course, you could always rely on - dare I say it - torrents.

Sure why not? :D
Even so, Audacity is a good freeware recording program. It's not as good as the bigger programs that you pay for but it's good nonetheless.

Seems like this is the most obvious thing in the earth...but I don't know :D ...what are torrents? :P

In common language, you could download the programs illegally.

I guess that for using that program you have to connect the guitar to the computer...how is that done? Is it expensive?
How do you merge that sound with the video of yourself playing , and doing it in a way its synchronized? Or does that program also reacord video?
Aren't there simpler ways?

There are cables made for that; the cables won't cost you much.
On some amps you can play straight through onto your computer, or you could use digital gear like Line6 pods.
Oh, and you can synch the audio and video using any video editing program.

That's a good way, but there would be a problem if you decided improvise here and there :P ;)
