I have a Microcube RX specifically for situations where a battery-powered practice amp is required and I haven't heard a better product for the purpose yet BUT

It does not handle bass well enough to play backing tracks accurately, or even at a useful level. It's a small miracle what they can do with 5 watts nowadays, but seriously... the best workaround I have so far is to remaster tracks with the cube as a monitor to mix down to something that works. But it's a lot of work and the outcome is hardly worth the effort.

I do own a 2nd gen JVC Kaboom which puts out some real power if you don't mind recharging 20 D cells (10 extra for when the first 10 die 2 hours later) But I need some effects.

Can anybody recommend an acceptable battery-powered multifx suitable for unsecured public situations? I'm sure everybody has their favorite hi-end unit, but I need something that won't won't be a major loss the if it gets rained on.

And I don't need much. A thick modern distortion and a simulated spring reverb (isn't it funny that spell-check doesn't recognize reverb?) would do the job. Chorus would be a bonus IF I can tweak the depth, rate, and wet/dry mix, but that might be asking too much of a disposable unit.

Suggestions?
